Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
